Default values on Custom Lists in dropdown fields

If you add a dropdown control/ field to a form and opt to use a Custom List to populate the answers it looks initially as though there is no way to specify on the items in the list as a 'default value'. Normally this could be done from the 'Options' tab when editing a field.

However, if you place an * at the start of the answer you wish to set as the default, then that will become the default value displayed for the dropdown field on the form in the app.
