Form types : Online v Mobile
Form types : Online v Mobile forms
People sometimes get confused as to when it best to use an Online form rather than a Mobile form. This article will help you clearly distinguish between the two types of form.
Mobile forms
- are accessed and completed using the pro-Forms® mobile app.
- a Mobile User account type must be set up in the system to be able to log in to the app before accessing mobile forms.
- each Mobile User account type is chargeable and must be unique - using an email address as the username.
- when logged into the app the pro-Forms® system will recognise the user account being used and therefore who submitted a form.
- the GPS location of the device when submitting a form can usually be captured and returned with the form data as well as a continual series of location points when a users stays logged into the and the appropriate permissions set in the work Group.
- mobile forms do not use a Theme or company branding when viewed in the app. Form Layouts produced once a mobile form has been received into the system can however be branded with a theme, colours, logos etc.
Online forms
- are opened in a browser on PC, laptop, smartphone or tablet.
- a pro-Forms® user account is not required to open and fill-in an Online form. An account is only required to build and configure them.
- each Online form is automatically given a unique link. The link can be sent to anyone, which when clicked will load the form for them to view & complete.
- the unique link can also be contained within a QR code that can be generated and downloaded for each form.
- the device running the browser on which an Online form is to be opened must have a live Internet connection.
- because the unique link to a form can be sent to any number of people it is not possible to tell who has submitted a form - unless there is a mandatory field on the form requesting their name/ identification.
- these forms can be branded with a Theme for colours, fonts and logos when displayed in the browser.
- are ideal for mass data gathering.
- can be used in conjunction with the 'Campaigns' feature where a data file can be be linked to the form and a unique link produced for each entry in the data file. Each unique link will open a form with data from the file already populated into form fields to personalise it for the recipient.
